At last, CNG sector has been bridled by OGRA. The latest prices fixed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority are as follows.
1. NWFP, Balochistan and Potohar Region, Rs.45.50 per kg.
2. Sindh and Punjab (excluding Potohar Region comprising Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Gujarkhan, Rs.44.50 per kg.
The prices of CNG in NWFP, Balochistan and Potohar region are on the higher side due to higher calorific value of the gas sources. For a lay man this technical jargon simple means that CNG of zone 1 gives better mileage.
OGRA has also allowed to sell CNG on lower rates to promote free market economy concepts. Earlier I have seen CNG Pumps in Lahore selling their value added product on 29% discount rates. But to my utter surprise CNG dealers in Sialkot do not offer any sort of discounts.
Now, it is the duty of OGRA to arrange calibration of dispensing machines to safeguard the interest of masses.
